Version 5010-Compliant Claims

Customized for Your Mental Health Practice

Since January 1, 2012, HIPAA-covered healthcare organizations have been required to comply with Version 5010 electronic transaction standards. Yet, there are still some EMR and practice management systems that do not meet these latest HIPAA standards, and this can result in claims being rejected.

This is not a problem for mental health professionals using 1st Providers Choice, as IMS for Mental Health EMR is both HIPAA and Version 5010-compliant.

What Is Version 5010?

Version 5010 of the HIPAA ASC X12 standards is the newest set of standards that regulates the electronic transmission of healthcare transactions such as:

  • Eligibility inquiries
  • Claims and encounters
  • Claim status inquiries
  • Referrals
  • Authorizations
  • Payment
  • Remittances

It's part of an effort by the federal government to create consistent standard data elements for all healthcare transactions. For more information about Version 5010, visit CMS' Version 5010 Industry Resources.
